Shawna Jensen grew up locally in Springfield, Oregon. She graduated from Thurston High School in 1992 then joined the United States Navy in the fall of 1997. She faithfully served the Navy for 21 years in both an active capacity and as a reservist as a Hospital Corpsman until 2013. She completed Surgical Technologist school at the Naval School of Health Sciences in 2002. Shawna was recalled to support Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003 and again in 2006. With the Navy in her rear-view mirror, she could focus on her own post-secondary education goal of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA). She completed several PA pre-requisite classes at the University of Oregon and Lane Community College. 


Shawna graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree Summa Cum Laude from Pacific University in 2017. Shawna earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in December 2021. In addition to attending class, she supported the local medical community as both a certified surgical technologist (CST) and as a certified surgical first assistant (CSFA) in orthopedic surgery.


Her daughter Emma kept her busy over the years with plenty of schoolwork and year-round volleyball commitments. She met her magnificent significant other, Peter, while working in surgery. Shawna is passionate about providing medical care to the Eugene-Springfield Community. Recently, she has become a passionate Formula 1 racing fan, enjoying Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc find victory with Scuderia Ferrari. She also enjoys great coffee, watching college sports (football, basketball, volleyball), working out at Orange Theory Fitness, road cycling, and visiting wineries on the west coast.
